By now, chances are you’ve seen if not been on one of the Metro’s ORBT buses.
Omaha Metro launched Omaha Rapid Bus Transit (ORBT) on Nov. 18, 2020 — ORBT unites smart technology and streamlined travel for faster, more frequent public transportation, serving an eight-mile route along Dodge and Douglas streets from downtown Omaha to Westroads Mall.
Metro also recently launched K-12 Rides Free, a pilot program that provides free bus, MOBY, and ORBT rides during Metro’s regular service hours for any K-12 student in Omaha and the surrounding area through June 1, 2022.
Later this year, Metro will introduce a new contactless fare payment system, which will offer smart card and mobile app payment and online and mobile app account management, among other features. The future is bright for ORBT!
