We want our YPs to be in know on this exciting opportunity so we’ve curated a list of the latest articles:
- Omaha and Offutt shoot for moon in seeking Space Command HQ “Offutt has a lot to offer,” said Hinson, the founding executive director of the National Strategic Research Institute at the University of Nebraska, the university’s Department of Defense research affiliate. “The community is one that will reach out, go get it, and do what it takes to make things happen. That’s a real plus.”
- Midlands Voices: Nebraska’s strengths make it a strong host for Space Command “Our wide-open spaces and already existing land at Offutt provide perfect capacity. Offutt is designed to allow for seamless operation of multiple missions. And with the ongoing renovations at the base, we have plenty of room to grow.”
- Retired Vice Adm. Ted Carter: Midwestern academic alliances would be powerful draw for U.S. Space Command | COMMENTARY “Our universities have numerous existing strengths on which to build this alliance. The institutions the four of us oversee enroll some 163,000 students, many of them in top-ranked engineering, space law, aerospace studies, cybersecurity and information technology programs well-suited to the U.S. Space Command mission”
- Recruiting Space Command to the metro “The Greater Omaha Chamber is hoping it happens. It’d bring 800 civilian and 600 military positions to the area, said David Brown, the chamber’s CEO. Offutt is already the metro’s largest employer.”
The decision is happening relatively fast and a new command center should be selected by mid-January. Follow us on our Facebook for the latest updates!
