What We Care About

From our 2015 YP Survey we discovered that Young Professionals ranked the below focus areas as essential to having a vibrant community and areas for the YP Council in particular to focus our efforts:

Arts & Culture

Creativity improves the quality of life and gives a community character. It’s an opportunity to express what we think, what we feel and what we want to change.

Community Development

We support mixed-income, mixed-use developments with housing, retail, entertainment and complete streets. We value convenience, productivity — and walkability.

Transporation

Using a car should be optional, not a necessity. We advocate for a multi-modal transit system that is accessible by all, helping us reach our full potential as an equitable and sustainable community.

Diversity & Inclusion

A community should respect and welcome all. Diversity and inclusion strengthens bonds within a community, rather than creating new divisions.

Entrepreneurship & STEM

STEM is the engine for creating the industries of tomorrow, while entrepreneurship is critical for harnessing technology and our economy to create the jobs of tomorrow. Providing wealth to a community and its people through innovation improves our standard of living.

Public Engagement

Whether it’s extending bar hours or changing policy to encouraging citizens to get involved on local issues, we have a voice with lawmakers and advocate for issues that affect us.
