Last month, Omaha welcomed young professionals from across the region to the 2026 YP Summit. A day filled with inspiration and connection, attendees left with new skills and perspectives to help them advance their personal and professional lives. Lives marked by this year’s theme: bold moves, big impact.
For many, including Dhatri Nagubandi and Keith Station, that big impact started with their experiences at YP Summit.
“I didn’t know these kinds of events existed. I thought conferences like this were only for college students. It’s great to know you can keep learning throughout your professional career.” — Dhatri Nagubandi
Meaningful Connections
Dhatri Nagubandi moved to Omaha last year. Her coworker at Conagra encouraged her to come to YP Summit to make new connections and ease the new-city transition. Nagubandiinitially attended the event to learn more about the city, industries, and meet new people; however, she gained even more than expected.
“I connected with coworkers from different departments and offices within Conagra that I had never met before,” Nagubandi said. “It opened my eyes to responsibilities and opportunities in other departments.” She also connected with professionals in other industries and learned about the benefits of sharing ideas and perspectives with those outside her industry. “I realized I need to explore more,” Nagubandi continued. “There’s so much to learn!”
Her favorite connection from the day? A person she bonded with beyond sharing LinkedIn profiles. “I think it’s a genuine friendship. We’re going to get drinks next week!”
Will you be attending next year’s YP Summit?
Nagubandi: “Absolutely! The experience is something you can’t get from books or Zoom. Everyone is on the same path, at the same level — making [YP Summit] feel like a safe place to learn and get out of your comfort zone.”
While Nagubandi joined YP Summit for the first time this year, some attendees have been coming year after year. Keith Station is one of them.
The Power of the Room
“I’ve been coming [to YP Summit] on and off since 2014,” Station said. “I love it. Every year builds on the previous year’s momentum.”
Working in the Mayor’s office, Station keeps his thumb on the pulse of young professionals. He is always excited to hear what conversations come out of speaker sessions and what people are curious about. This is why active participation is key.
“The most powerful thing in the room is the room,” Station declares. In other words, conferences like YP Summit are only as good as the ideas, perspectives, and collaboration shared in the room.
“The most powerful thing in the room is the room.” — Keith Station
YP Summit reminds Station how accessible the city of Omaha is for people looking for networks and resources, especially young professionals building their careers. In his experience, it’s important to have a space dedicated to learning, sharing, and networking with people of the same age group.
“It recharges you,” Station continues. “It [that recharge] leads to conversations and creativity resulting in programs like the YP Week, which in turn, give you more opportunities.”
Why should young professionals attend next year’s YP Summit?
“To share YOUR perspectives, ideas, and solutions. Attend to not only get something, but to give something. Remember, the conversations in the room will be better with you in it.”
Mark your calendars and join us for the next YP Summit on March 12, 2027.
