Omaha Named One of the “Top 100 Best Places to Live” in 2026
Omaha, NE – The Omaha region has been named one of the “Top 100 Best Places to Live” in 2026, by Livability.com, a national ranking that highlights small to mid-sized cities offering a strong combination of affordability, opportunity, and quality of life. The ranking is based on a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of nearly 100 data points across key categories including economy, housing, amenities, transportation, education, health, and safety.
The recognition underscores what continues to define Greater Omaha’s momentum: a strong and resilient economy, a cost of living that remains within reach for working families, and a community that is actively investing in its future.
“Omaha continues to stand out because it delivers on the fundamentals that matter most – opportunity, affordability, and quality of life,” said Heath Mello, President and CEO of the Greater Omaha Chamber. “This is a place where businesses can grow, where talent can build a future, and where families can put down roots with confidence. We are building with intentional strategy and strong partnerships to ensure Greater Omaha continues to be one of the most competitive and livable regions in the country.”
Livability’s 2026 rankings placed increased emphasis on affordability and cost of living, requiring all cities on the list to have a median home value below $500,000. The methodology also evaluates factors such as access to amenities, environmental quality, infrastructure, and overall community well-being.
Omaha’s performance was particularly strong in areas tied to economic stability, education, and health – factors that continue to drive both business growth and talent attraction in the region.
