Joslyn Art Museum hosts a selection of temporary special exhibitions annually. These feature works from other museums, institutions, and private collections worldwide, or represent an aspect of Joslyn’s own permanent collection. Special exhibitions are limited-time engagements and are most often are included in Joslyn’s free general admission (exhibitions with an additional entrance fee are noted).

See work by Garth Williams (1912-1996), illustrator of dozens of children’s classics, including E.B. White’s Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s The Little House series, and many Golden Books. A Mind’s Eye Gallery exhibition.

Pulling this familiar everyday object out from under the desk and dining table, The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design surprises us with the imaginative style and creativity found in this seemingly humble piece of furniture.
The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art, Jacksonville, in collaboration with the Thomas H. and Diane DeMell Jacobsen, Ph.D. Foundation and is toured by International Arts & Artists, Washington, D.C.
This exhibition will have a ticket fee. $10 general public adults; $5 college students with ID (tickets for those with a UNMC student ID are free; free weekend for all college students: Auust 24 and 25); free for Joslyn members and youth ages 17 and younger.

Jay Heikes’ diverse practice engages a range of traditional media, including graphite, oil paint, and bronze, as well as found materials, such as dirt, rocks, and sheet music. Often conceiving strange or unexpected pairings of these and other materials, Heikes questions the relationships among the substances that make up the universe, an inquiry that stems from his lifelong interest in the natural sciences. A Riley CAP Gallery exhibition.

Joslyn’s Hitchcock Museum Shop is open during all regular Museum hours.

Café Durham Hours
Enjoy a delicious meal or light refreshments in the beautiful sunlit atmosphere of Joslyn’s Café Durham, located in the Museum’s atrium.

Tuesday-Saturday:
10:30 am-3 pm: Coffee, Pastries, & Desserts
11 am–2 pm: Lunch (sandwiches, salads, soups, daily specials)
Sunday
10:30 am–2 pm: Breakfast special and lunch

Joslyn Art Museum’s Peter Kiewit Foundation Sculpture Garden is open year-round from 7 am to 11 pm each day, and admission is free.

Docent-guided tours are offered Wednesdays at 1 pm, Saturdays at 10:30 am, Sundays at 1 pm, and select Thursdays at 6:30 pm. Check the Calendar of Events to confirm tour offerings. Most tours are included in free general Museum admission. Tours of ticketed exhibitions require ticket purchase.
