Community vibrancy is an ever-increasing factor in today’s job marketplace as workers can often choose from where they work instead of simply relocating to where jobs are located.

The attraction, retention and development of young workers is vitally important for communities hoping to remain relevant in the rapidly changing world. It is with this focus in mind that community leaders across the state of Nebraska have come together to announce 2018 Young Nebraskans Week – a statewide celebration – Sept. 24 – 28.

Young Nebraskans Week will consist of speakers, discussion panels, workshops and networking opportunities hosted by communities across the state to celebrate the talent, insight and liveliness of young professionals. Developed by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development and modeled after Lincoln’s Young Professionals Group’s annual YP Week, Young Nebraskans Week aims to concentrate our state’s focus on growing, retaining and developing our youngest members of the workforce.

Here is where you come in! We are encouraging YOU to host your own event, party, discussion or outing during the week. The more creative the better!  Any event can be submitted to the Week’s website by completing this brief survey [link]. Activities will then be featured on the YN Week website and promoted throughout the state.

If you have a graphic to go along with your event, please email it to KAYLAMEYER@LCOC.COM in a JPG or PNG file format and make sure to make note of that in your submission. Please allow 3-5 business days for your submissions to go on the YNW website.

Our own YP Exchange will be held Sept. 25 in coordination with YP Week. We hope to see you there and at the many other events taking place throughout the state.
