State of Our City
Remember, Remember, the 9 of November
If you attended State of Our City last Thursday November 9, you were part of something really cool. Our first ever event like this that engaged over 200 YPs, our second largest event ever second only to YP Summit, held at MCC’s new Center for Advanced and Emerging Technology (CAET) building on their Fort Omaha Campus. We even made the 10 O’Clock news on KMTV Channel 3!
We engaged with you through more than ten interconnected YP groups, city organizations, or nonprofit causes in our Engagement Space.
We engaged You heard from Rebecca Ryan on how leadership in our city is about taking ownership and taking action, it won’t be just handed to us.
We introduced our incoming class of change agents and Executive Team for YP Council who will act as your advocates on issues important to YPs across the city in our focus areas of Arts & Culture, Entrepreneurship & STEM, Public Engagement, Public Transportation, Diversity & Inclusion, & Interconnectivity. All of these focus areas were highlighted in breakout sessions led by community leaders in those areas.
Public Transportation facilitated focus groups and a panel discussion from Metro, MAPA, ORBT, Omaha By Design, and Omaha Streetcar Advocates on what messages resonate the most with the public on transit topics.
