Three words come to mind when thinking of Bald Brothers Catering: Quality, Passion and Family. Each is the thread that connects brothers Steven, David and Brian Robinson. With ambitions to start a new kind of brewpub in Omaha, Steven is taking the first step in getting the Bald Brothers brand out there with his launch of Bald Brothers Catering.
Cooking in restaurant kitchens since he was 14, Steven (the youngest of the brother trio) always had a passion for food, but didn’t really see it as a career. While studying to be an architect his mind quickly changed after taking a food science class as an elective. Getting to see the why and how of cooking’s effects on food, he quickly acquired an enthusiasm for the science of food. He eventually switched programs, opting for the culinary program at Metropolitan Community College. The more he learned, the more he rediscovered his passion for cooking, wanting to provide quality food and tell the story of where it came from.
As Omaha focuses on local restaurants and taking more risks, Steven sees validation that a brewpub concept that cares just as much about their food as their beer is a needed addition.
Going through Metro’s culinary program helped cement Steven’s commitment to quality. He points out he learned a lot, and appreciates the emphasis on learning the right techniques and bringing balance to dishes. After graduation, Steven worked in a few kitchens, eventually taking a long break to run a warehouse for a nonprofit.
Thanks to an alignment of family support and having the ability to hit the ground running, now is the perfect time for Bald Brothers Catering to make its debut. As Omaha focuses on local restaurants and taking more risks, Steven sees validation that a brewpub concept that cares just as much about their food as their beer is a needed addition.
A passion for local quality ingredients, not taking shortcuts and telling a story through food, it’s not surprising that Steven’s favorite type of catering jobs are events that are all about variety and encourage people to be social, fellowship and build comradery.
After attending Kitchen Council’s food photography class, Steven and wife knew it was the perfect place to grow their business and get the additional resources they needed. Though he is taking a big risk leaving his previous job to cater full time, his family is determined to go all in — to ensure the long term success of Bald Brothers. A family business through and through, Steven’s wife manages the branding and marketing side of things, a complimentary piece in the Robinson family puzzle.
After only a month, Steven feels welcomed and a part of the Kitchen Council family. He has gotten to know other members and has found immense value from the benefits membership provides and the care and support from the Kitchen Council team. Catering, getting their concept out in front of people and branding are vital to the Robinson brothers’ success, and Kitchen Council is a great catalyst.

With the help of Kitchen Council, Steven’s perfectly paired food, brewmaster brother David (with 12+ years of homegrown beer experience) and business savvy brother Brian, the Bald Brothers brewpub will eventually bring a taste of the international to our beer scene with modern pub fare and brews that tell a story through their flavor profiles, bringing a little more balance to the table.
