Greater Omaha Young Professionals Purely Social : Love's Jazz & Arts Center - May 10, 2012

Omaha's young professionals desire a welcoming community where people can be authentic and connected without barriers due to race, ethnicity, gender, interests or income. Bringing people together from all walks of life increases the number of engaged citizens who seek to bring about change within our community.

The Greater Omaha Young Professionals and the Council of Companies will provide such an opportunity at the May 10 Purely Social hosted at Love's Jazz & Arts Center.

Love's Jazz & Arts Center is a place where the community can learn about the rich cultural heritage of jazz music, an American original art form. The center explores the contributions of Omaha's own legendary jazz musician Preston Love Sr., along with others who've made an impact on the world of jazz from the corner of 24th and Lake streets in North Omaha.

Live jazz music by Chad Stoner & History will begin at 6:30 p.m. Representatives from The Union for Contemporary Art, a nonprofit organization which focuses its efforts on improving the North Omaha community, will be present to educate YPs on opportunities for involvement.

Young Professionals: Omaha After Work, Behind the Scenes at the Olympic Swim Trials - June 13, 2012

Join the Greater Omaha Young Professionals and Mutual of Omaha Emerging Leaders Network for the only behind-the-scenes look at the 2012 Olympic Swim Trials. The event will showcase how the city of Omaha, local businesses and the Omaha Sports Commission worked with the Olympics committee to recruit the swim trails to Omaha for a second time.

Attendees will hear from Harold Cliff of the Omaha Sports Commission and be given a tour of the facility just days before the trails begin. Young professional Mike Bowman, Kiewit Construction Group engineer and designer of the Olympic-trials pool, will answer questions about how the pool is constructed.

There will also be plenty of time for connecting with other young professionals during a pub quiz reviewing Omaha's history with sport and entertainment events.

$20 per person, includes appetizers, parking and a ticket for one drink.
