How would you like to have a rolling billboard sending your message across town? Polls also indicate that consumers are more aware of mobile billboards.

Print media, radio, television, and static billboard advertising can cost thousands per month. Yellow page advertising often costs several hundred dollars a month. Oct. 1 Women's Health & Wellness Conference to focus on surviving, thriving in difficult times

"Surviving and Thriving: Finding Strength in Difficult Times," will be the focus of the 13th annual Omaha Women's Health and Wellness Conference on Friday, Oct. 1, held at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.

The conference, which is open to the public, will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The cost of the conference is $49, which includes breakfast, lunch, lectures, and exhibits. Health screenings will be offered at a minimal cost. Registration deadline is Sept. 24.

Breakfast keynote speaker is Fred Wilson, a survivor of the 2007 shooting at Von Maur. The main session speaker, Deborah Darrington, M.D., University of Nebraska Medical Center assistant professor of internal medicine and director of a cancer survivorship clinic, will discuss getting back to normal after having cancer.

Joann Schaefer, M.D., Nebraska's chief medical officer and liver transplant recipient will be the luncheon keynote speaker. She will discuss how to live well with a chronic illness. Closing speaker will be Marie Micheletto, an inspirational speaker from Omaha.

Participants will choose from afternoon sessions that include grief in children, workplace survival, wellness after divorce, post traumatic stress disorder, living with pain and autoimmune diseases.

Low cost screenings including lipid, glucose and complete blood count, will be available for $15, and a thyroid-stimulating hormone test will be available for $5. Nursing credit is available for an additional $30. Head Coach Pat Pimmel relives the path to this point for these players. "We search long and hard to fill positions on the team with a potential NFL quality players and feel our time and effort resulted in the top players throughout the country. Our main goal is to find the best player with some that have been overlooked and show off their talents so they will stand out to be noticed by scouts to exceed to the next level. The Omaha Nighthawks have embraced the IFL Beef team as a go-to team to recruit high profile and talented athletes. Often they were in attendance to the games strategically witnessing potential players for their roster.

Of the 25 teams in the IFL, the Omaha Beef team has more than doubled the rest of leagues' players moving up to the UFL's mini camp.

Owner Jeff Sprowls expects nothing less from Beef players. "It is our job and responsibility to coach these players up to the next level period. The UFL and Nighthawks have been a great asset for the IFL and the Beef."

Omaha's 15th Annual Candlelight Vigil

Omaha and Council Bluffs will hold individual candlelight vigils in rememberance of victims of domestic violence on Thursday, Sept. 30. Omaha will host its vigil at 6:00 p.m. at Stinson Park in Omaha. Council Bluffs will host its vigil at 6:30 p.m. at Bayliss Park in Council Bluffs.

The kick-off event is sponsored by several collaborating agencies including the YWCA Omaha, Catholic Charities Omaha, Catholic Charities Phoenix House of Council Bluffs, Domestic Violence Coordinating Council and Ponca Tribe.

While this marks the 15th year for Omaha's vigil and the 21st year for Council Bluffs, it is the first time Domestic Violence month will be kicked off by Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle and Council Bluffs Mayor Tom Hanafan. The mayors will meet on the bridge between the two cities and proclaim October Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Birch and Heinze named Newest Associates at Schemmer

Omaha, NE - The Schemmer Associates Inc. recently named Patricia J. Birch, AIA, LEED� AP, and Jason J. Heinze, P.E., S.E., LEED� AP, as its two newest associates of the firm.

Birch joined the firm in May 2007. She is a registered architect in Nebraska and Iowa, and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). Currently managing projects for the firm's Architecture division, Birch has designed a broad range of architectural projects for both public and private sectors. Birch received her master's and bachelor's degrees in architecture from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Heinze joined the firm in March 2007 as Manager of the Structural Engineering Department. He is a licensed professional engineer and also a licensed structural engineer. He received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Both Birch and Heinze also hold Professional Accreditation of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED� AP).

CAMP BOW WOW HELPS PUPS IN NEED

Camp Bow Wow is all about the dogs, from the most pampered of our customers to those less fortunate among our furry friends.

That's why Camp Bow Wow Omaha will hold "Yappy Hour for a Cause", a fundraising event for local Omaha dog rescue groups and other organizations that help find homes for strays and abandoned dogs.

DESCRIPTION OF THE FUNDRAISER.
Camp Bow Wow is proud to sponsor the first annual "Yappy Hour for a Cause". Adoptable dogs from several shelters and rescues will be present for folks to meet. Several activities will take place including a silent auction, our prize wheel will be out, the "Puparazzi" will be here, "Puptinis" will be available, there will be free food and plenty of other fun give-aways. Proceeds from the event will go to participating rescue groups, which include MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue, Jack Russell Terrier Rescue and the Nebraska/Iowa Saint Bernard Rescue (more to come).

"It is important for all of Omaha to work together on building awareness on the homeless pet situation. There are many non-profit rescue groups in the area that strive to keep dogs off the streets and placed in good homes - these organizations need our help to continue to work their mission. The AIM Institute is now accepting applications for Class Three of its annual IT Leadership Academy, a leadership program that develops and enhances the management skills of current and future IT directors, managers, and supervisors in the Omaha area. 2nd Annual Guns and Hoses Boxing Challenge

On Saturday, September 11 some of the metro area's toughest police officers and firefighters will face off in the 2nd Annual Guns & Hoses Boxing Challenge at the Mid-America Center. Officers from the Omaha Police Department along with firefighters from Omaha, Council Bluffs, Papillion, and Lincoln fire departments will be participating in this hard-hitting, high-quality showcase.

Guns and Hoses Boxing is a large-scale fundraising effort in support of the various charities of the local Police and Fire Departments. These charities include the Special Olympics, Muscular Dystrophy Association and local youth amateur boxing. Last year's Guns & Hoses Boxing Challenge raised over $30,000 for local charities.
