Omahans are well-educated people. Greater Omaha is home to a higher percentage of high school and college graduates than the national averages. Residents value education and see it as an essential component of success. From preschool through graduate school, there are a multitude of public and private education options.
The metropolitan area has a wealth of outstanding elementary and high schools from which to choose. Our strong public school districts – from Omaha to Millard, Bellevue, Council Bluffs and all communities in between – exist in cooperation with the area’s private, parochial, faith-based and non-traditional schools.
Our metropolitan statistical area has more than a dozen universities and community colleges, including the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Creighton University, Nebraska Methodist College, Metropolitan Community College and Bellevue University, and the University of Nebraska Medical Center and Creighton Medical Center.
Partnerships linking education facilities with area business are a source of phenomenal opportunities for students. One example is the University of Nebraska’s Peter Kiewit Institute (PKI) of Information Science, Technology and Engineering on the south campus of UNO.
PKI’s state-of-the-art classroom and lab facilities, broadband on demand, super computing connectivity, 11 residence halls, and research and technology transfer facility are among the best in the nation. The institute draws top scholars from around the nation and the world.
