Omaha Business Hall of Fame Gala

The Greater Omaha Chamber's Omaha Business Hall of Fame annually inducts civic and business leaders whose accomplishments are both outstanding and historically significant. Nominations are now open. Complete a nomination form by Oct. 15 >>

They're as different from each other as can be. The industries they represent are as diverse as the motivations that drive their success. And yet, the one quality they share is a tireless dedication to achieving the goals they set for themselves. In the process, they bring greater notoriety for Omaha, greater opportunity for its people and greater success to the organizations they serve. These are the inductees to the Omaha Business Hall of Fame. And their accomplishments range from beautification and civic contributions to development of business opportunity and growth to business innovation and recognition of Omaha on a national level.

2010 Omaha Business Hall of Fame inductees were:

Erastus A. Benson (1854-1932)
E.A. Benson and Son Realtors

Pennie Z. Davis (1917-2002)
Greater Omaha Packing Co. Inc.

Samuel D. Mercer
Mercer Management Company

Joseph H. Moglia
TD AMERITRADE

Theodore (Ted) M. Seldin
The Seldin Company

Janice D. Stoney
U S WEST (retired)

Established in 1993, the celebration gala includes a reception, followed by the induction ceremony and dinner. Their achievements are soon to showcased in a permanent display at The Durham Museum. View a list of all Omaha Business Hall of Fame members.

Purpose

  • Preserve the role of individual business achievement in Omaha’s history through a permanent Omaha Business Hall of Fame.
  • Recognize men and women who have contributed to the business history of the Greater Omaha in some significant manner, either through sustained superior performance or through a specific important achievement. Individuals may be active, retired or deceased. Civic and/or philanthropic activities are relevant but not the primary factor in selection.
  • Foster recognition by the general public of the importance of business and free enterprise to the development, future growth and overall quality of life of a community.
  • Contribute to the overall business image of Greater Omaha.

Criteria

  • Individuals from large and small businesses and persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the free enterprise system will be considered. The individual may be the founder or someone who contributed significantly to company development. Civic and/or philanthropic activities are relevant but not the primary factor in selection.
  • The Omaha Business Hall of Fame selection committee seeks individuals representing a wide range of races and ethnicities who have demonstrated exceptional business leadership within their community.
  • The laureates may or may not currently hold the position in which they achieved major success and for which they are being honored.
  • To be considered, nominees must have resided in the Greater Omaha. Anyone who has left the above mentioned area but made a significant contribution while a resident may also be considered.
  • To be considered, nominees from a profession must have made an outstanding contribution to business—for example, a lawyer who practiced corporate law and served on corporate boards.
